The Parents & Citizen's Association

The objectives of the Kedron State School P&C are to promote the interests of, and facilitate the development and further improvement of Kedron State School. Examples of activities include promoting parent and caregiver participation and encouraging collaboration between parents, caregivers, students and school communities to foster a commitment to achieving the best educational outcomes for children and young people.

The P&C is very proud of what it has accomplished over the years, and the way in which we have supported the school. Apart from working with the school management and staff to ensure a good learning environment is provided to our students, and good outcomes are achieved for our students, we have also raised a significant amount of funds.

In the last 5 years, we have contributed over $275,000 to the school, raised through a variety of activities, events, programs and services. This money has been put back into the school in the form of educational resources, additional teacher aide hours, purchase of learning tools and technologies, and improvements to the school grounds and facilities.

Have a look at our flyer for more information and answers to your questions.

What can you do?

Every member of our school community has the opportunity to become involved in the P&C, and is urged to do so. You can contribute by:

  • Becoming a member of the P&C – just come along to a meeting on the second Tuesday of the month and complete the form.
  • Serving as a member of the P&C executive – as children leave the school to enter high school, so parents from the school community move on. It is vital that we have a full executive team at all times to ensure the business of the P&C continues.
  • Volunteering – perhaps you have a few hours to spare each week to help in the uniform shop, in tuckshop or with school banking? If not, try and get involved in special activities and events that are put on, such as sausage sizzles, Mother’s Day and Father’s Day stalls and other fundraising activities.
  • Back office tasks – haven’t got time to get to the school to help out? We’re always on the lookout for those with special skills that can help with things such as grant writing, preparing flyers or other computer work.

If you are interested in becoming involved, please email us.

Book club

Kedron State School students are able to participate in both Scholastic and Redgum book clubs.

Scholastic book club

Brochures are distributed to students eight times a school year. Order deadlines and payment due dates are in the school newsletter. 20% of sales are paid back to the school for library resources. Scholastic offers three ways to pay for your child’s book order: credit card, using the Linked Online Ordering & Payment platform (LOOP), cash or cheque. Ordering through LOOP allows you to order and pay for your child’s book club order online in one simple process. You can also order by returning the back page order form and payment in a named envelope, via the classroom collection containers, on Tuesday and Friday. This allows you to pay by cash or cheque (payable to Scholastic Australia) only. Check out the scholastic book club web page https://www.scholastic.com.au/book-club/book-club-home/ to enter some great competitions.

Redgum book club

The Redgum Book Club is an Australian owned book club predominantly supporting Australian authors, illustrators and publishers. Four brochures are distributed to the oldest sibling per family each term. There is a free gift with every order and 25% of all sales return to the school to be used on literacy resources. Order deadlines are posted in the school newsletter and are listed on each brochure. There are 5 ways to order: online, email, fax, phone or post. To find further information on all titles and products as well as to order go to www.redgumbookclub.com.au. You can pay by credit card or check.  Checks must be made out to Redgum Book Club and posted to Reply Post 30, PO Box 935, Mona Vale, NSW 1660.
For special occasions, e.g. Christmas, birthdays etc. you may not want your child to know you have ordered from Redgum or Scholastic book club, please contact me directly and I will make arrangements for the order to be collected from the uniform shop or parent room.
